Changing Your School's Common App Integration Status

BridgeU is excited to be an integration partner of the Common Application.

Each year at the end of the application cycle, we will send an email to your school to inform you about pairing with the Common App integration. Read below to learn more about changing your school's BridgeU<>Common App integration status.

How do I know if my school has the BridgeU-Common App integration enabled?

The BridgeU-Common App integration is available to BridgeU schools. There are a few ways you will know if your school has the integration enabled:

  1. Your school will receive an email from your BridgeU in around July to confirm that the integration will be enabled for your school for the upcoming application cycle.
  2. When your students set up their Common App account and select your school in the Education section on Common App, they will be prevented from inviting any counsellor or teacher recommenders via Common App. They will receive a message that their school is using BridgeU.
  3. When your students log into BridgeU, they can navigate to their 'profile' in the top right corner and view the 'pair your Common App account' button. If they have already paired accounts, they will see their Common App ID (CAID) instead.

If the Common App integration is not enabled for your school, please contact your Customer Success Manager or email hi@bridge-u.com.

What does the integration allow my school to do?

As part of the integration, students can link their Common App and BridgeU accounts to allow for easy synchronisation of their application information. Advisors can complete the submission of all supporting documents for their students on BridgeU directly without having to use Common App.

The integration function allows 'opt in' or 'opt out' on a school-wide level. Therefore, you are not able to choose to use the integration on a per-student basis.

What does BridgeU recommend?

The integration provides a seamless experience for BridgeU schools. If you are a BridgeU school with document sending included in your subscription and students who will apply to Common App universities, BridgeU highly recommends using the integration to streamline your workflow.

Please note: you should expect to complete an entire application cycle without changing your integration status either way. Regardless of whether you have started using Common App system or the BridgeU-Common App integration, switching your school's integration status mid-application cycle may remove progress that has already been completed.

My school IS NOT currently using the BridgeU<>Common App integration, but we would like to enable it. What do I need to do?

If you have already started using Common App directly and you or your students have completed the actions listed below, we recommend you continue using Common App to avoid reversing your progress:

  • Students have already invited their counsellor and teacher recommenders on Common App.
  • Counselor or teacher recommenders have already submitted supporting documents on Common App (e.g. school report, counsellor recommendation, teacher recommendation)

If you decide to go ahead and request to enable the BridgeU-Common App integration, please email hi@bridge-u.com and copy your Customer Success Manager using the following email template:
